About Us

Welcome the child, not the labels

In a world obsessed with binaries, the first question people ask a new parent is almost always, "Is it a boy or a girl?"At Safe Space Celebrations, we believe the most important answer is: "It’s a person."We exist because we believe that a child’s identity is a journey they take, not a decision made for them before they are born. For too long, celebrations of new life have been boxed into two narrow categories: pink or blue, touchdowns or tutus. We are told that knowing a child's biological assignment is the same as knowing who they will become. We disagree.Safe Space Celebrations was born out of a completely reasonable radical idea: that a child should be welcomed into the world free from expectations, stereotypes, and the heavy weight of societal projection.

What we do

We are a full-service event planning agency for the conscious family. We dismantle the "Gender Reveal" narrative and replace it with celebrations of authentic connection. We curate experiences, from "Welcome to the World" gatherings to "Community Village" showers, that center on your child's humanity, not their anatomy.

  • Beyond the Binary: We design themes based on nature, growth, celestial wonder, and human potential.

  • Inclusive by Design: We vet every vendor, game, and decoration to ensure they align with an anti-bias, pro-autonomy ethos.

  • Protective Atmosphere: We help you navigate family expectations, creating a buffer so you can focus on building your village without having to defend your values.

The greatest gift you can give your child is the freedom to be exactly who they are. Let’s start the party there.

Who we are

Robin Bloom-Anderson (she / her) is the Founder and Lead Facilitator of Safe Space Celebrations. A proud alumna of Bryn Mawr College, Robin graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Comparative Literature and a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies.
Robin’s journey began during her sophomore year, when she attended a cousin’s "Guns or Glitter" gender reveal party in the suburbs. Watching her family cheer as blue confetti exploded out of a faux-shotgun, Robin had a visceral realization: she wasn't witnessing a celebration, but the forced imposition of a role onto a child before they had even taken a breath.Robin left the party, sat in her car, and wrote the manifesto that would eventually become Safe Space Celebrations. She knew someone had to offer an alternative to the binary indoctrination of the American family unit.Robin views event planning as a form of direct action and applies the theories of Judith Butler throughout her work. Under Robin's leadership, Safe Space Celebrations aims to dismantle the patriarchy in the cradle, or rather, the registry. When she isn't curating milestone events, Robin is deeply embedded in her local community. Robin resides in the Hudson Valley in a co-operative housing unit with her cat and an impressive collection of vintage protest posters.

At Safe Space Celebrations, we believe a party should feel like a deep exhale, not a performance. We’re deeply intentional about creating environments that are free from the usual pressures of traditional baby showers. Our goal is to make sure you, your guests, and even the baby are surrounded by energy that feels safe, grounding, and completely trigger-free.
Because we respect and emphasize privacy during these intimately personal celebrations, we never share photos of actual client events. Your memories belong to you, not our marketing materials. So, think of the images below as 'mood boards' or illustrations of our past work. They’re here to show you the feeling of what we do, while keeping our real-life families completely out of the spotlight.

Customer Testimonials

"My mother-in-law wanted a traditional shower, and I wanted something gender-neutral. Safe Space Celebrations bridged the gap perfectly. They designed a 'Little Sprout' theme that felt festive and inclusive without a single gendered cliché in sight. Everyone felt comfortable, and I felt heard."Sarah
(Berkeley, CA)

"We wanted to celebrate our baby, but the idea of a 'gender reveal' with pink or blue smoke just didn't sit right. Robin created a 'Name Reveal' party instead. It was colorful, joyful, and focused entirely on who our child is, not the gender they're assigned. It's the exact boundary we wanted to set."Michael & Steven
(Dobbs Ferry, NY)

"Finally, a party planner who didn't ask 'Boy or Girl?' as the very first question. Robin and their team understood that we are raising our child without labels. The event was beautiful, focusing on community and love rather than expectations. It was a radical act to welcome our child as a blank canvas, completely free from societal projections"David & Avery
(Portland, OR)

"Safe Space Celebrations was the only agency that understood our values. We refuse to impose a binary on someone who hasn't even had the chance to self-identify yet. Robin's team helped us to curate a 'Consent & Community' gathering where guests pledged to support our child’s journey of self-discovery, regardless of where that leads."Maya & Skylar
